Using a Litany

Individuals and individual churches or other non-profit organizations are welcome to use one of these litanies in a personal, communal, or corporate setting. I allow my work to be printed in a one-off service guide for the purpose of communal prayer. I request that you cite me as the author and include a link to this website, and if applicable, to my original post. See this post for detailed instructions. << These instructions do not apply to any of the below circumstances.

Large national organizations, for-profit organizations, church conglomerates, diocese, or other organizations that are NOT individuals, individual churches, or individual non-profit organizations must contact me to negotiate a fee for use and obtain express written permission from me to use my work.

You MAY NOT republish my work on a website unless I’ve given you express written consent.

You do NOT have permission to re-publish, print, or otherwise include my work in any printed book, ebook, magazine, online publication or online document, unless you’ve obtained express written consent from me.

You MAY NOT sell my work for profit, or include it in any for-profit publication unless you’ve negotiated a use fee with me and obtained written permission from me to publish.

If you are posting on social media, do not share without linking to the original post, either here or on my social media account.

Feel free to contact me if you have any questions or would like to use a litany in a circumstance other than one I’ve mentioned here.

Tips on Using Litanies

  1. Many of these litanies are written for congregational use as responsive readings. In general, sections in bold are to be read aloud by a congregation. Non-bold sections should be read by a leader.

  2. Some words can have different meanings to different communities. If you like a litany but would like to change a word or two, I'm usually happy to make an edit if I have the time.

  3. If your community has a need for a litany for a particular occasion, feel free to make a request on the contact page.
